Ballet Bun week 2

It's the same as the previous ballet buns but I added a small braid down the middle. Just take a small section of hair in the front, braid it down, and add it to your bun. Simple!

Ballerina Bun

M had her first ballet class and asked for a ballerina bun. For credits and instructions, click HERE.

Flips and a Sunday Bun

The flips are really easy. For instructions and credits, go HERE. I did three on each side then made a ponytail in the back. The easiest way for me was to divide the hair into three sections first. The two sides are for the flips and then the center piece is the main part of the ponytail.

I love this bun! It is so easy and looks so nice and sleek. Here's the trick (if you don't already know). You take a child sock. I did a tan one that C had grew out of because E's hair is brown. You cut of the toe of the sock and roll it up so it looks like a doughnut. You put the hair in a ponytail and slide the sock over it. Have her tip her head down so the hair falls all around the sock. Then wrap a hair elastic around the sock and voila! A perfect bun! I usually need to wrap the remaining ends around the bun and secure them with bobby pins. Or you could curl them and loosely pin them around, depending on how fancy you want it.

You can do all kinds of things with this bun. This hairstyle is one we do alot. You do small ponytails around the head. Separate them and combine two pieces into a twist. Then pull it all up into a ponytail.

Oldie but goodie

We did an oldie but goodie today. Twisting braids that tie back into a ponytail. Put into a messy bun with a pink bow on top. Hopefully it holds today. I have a feeling M is going to be very energetic.

Church 'do

I did three twist braids and tied them into knots. Secured the ends so they looked like buns, then added hair bows alternating sides. It turned out really cute.

Picture Hair #2

Here is the hair 'do from picture day number 2. It is a flip with the front section, with three piggies put in messy buns. It was really easy and looks pretty fancy.

I curled the ends and hairsprayed the whole thing.

Sunshine Weaving

Today is going to be so nice, so M is all dressed up in sunshine yellow! I just did Weaving on each side then joined them for two piggies. We made them into messy buns and added fun hair bows.

Side and top views.

Back view of the messy buns (and a messy living room).
Ready for a day in the sun!

Our hair adventures so far

I've decided to document all of the hairstyles we try. Here is what we have created so far (in no particular order). Some are originals, others come from the websites that can be found on the side bar.

I also make some of her flowers and hair bows. In the future, I might post some pictures of those, too.

This one is a little hard to see, sorry.

Triple ponies with messy buns. This is the very first one we did. I loved her bangs! But she has since decided to grow them out.

This is what it looks like with no buns.

A fancy church 'do with a flower. It's one of my favorites.

This one is fun. We've done another variation that has LOTS of little puffy braids.

This one is called the "Easter Basket". We did it for Easter, of course:)

We do this one alot. It is nice for windy days.

This is a "puffy braid headband". It was great for keeping the hair out of her eyes.

C wanted his hair done, too. So here's the "spike".

This is another one great for windy days. They are called "twists" or "corkscrews", depending on who you talk to.
